Touch Rugby at Twickenham

Technique had the opportunity to play on the hallowed turf this weekend for one the most friendly yet competitive rugby clubs in London.

London Media RFC as a club are welcoming, they play a good standard of rugby but don’t take themselves too seriously. So when they offered us the chance to play at fortress Twickenham. Technique just couldn’t say no. Unfortunately, our very own Mike Aunger managed to injure himself in the third game, he picked up a thigh contusion from an over zealous tackle. Yes, he was playing touch rugby as well!

As a tournament, it was competitive, with some serious players but not too many were getting too into it. Everyone was just happy to play on the turf that has seen so many stars of International Rugby Union over the years.

London Media made it to the final, but unfortunately couldn’t bring the good form that had seen them make their way there.  The referee also had a shocker, but let’s not talk about that!

After the tournament was over our hosts for the day IPA Greene King, put us up in the England players lounge and fed us food and beer. A good time was had by all! So thanks to the sponsors, players and fans who made the day great fun.
